Making a difference through impactful research about Black women and girls.
Making a difference through impactful research about Black women and girls.
Based at the University of California, Los Angeles Luskin School of Public Affairs, we investigate how gendered racism shapes mental health inequities in the lives of Black girls while advancing tools by developing interventions and programs to support them. Through rigorous research, advocacy, and community engagement, we aim to amplify marginalized voices and foster meaningful change.
We are committed to understanding the complex identities of Black girls and how their positionality shapes the systems of oppression they interact with, including racism, sexism, ageism, and more.
We are determined to advocate for practitioners and policy makers to foster safe spaces for Black girls to holistically thrive by increasing equitable access to valuable resources.
We are driven to amplify authentic narratives of Black girls that celebrate their success, excellence, and resilience against gendered racism by deconstructing deficit-based perspectives.
Our vision is to reimagine spaces Black women and girls exist in by advancing equity and social justice efforts to produce liberatory, paradigm-shifting, community-rooted research that challenges systemic oppression faced by marginalized groups, particularly Black women and girls.
